this is the story i was talking about in my earlier post...
I once had a dream that I was walking on a road, and the road was rocky and sharp on my feet. And around the road, nothing. Nothing but bare land.
Then, a gleaming figure came toward walking over to me. I couldn’t make out a face, but I knew at once it was the Lord. I got on my knees and started crying. The Lord came to me. No words ever came from His mouth, and yet He spoke.
“Please rise. You are safe now. Eat from this bread and drink from this cup, for I know your needs.”
After He had spoken, I felt very hungry and thirsty. I took the items from His hands. I took a large bite of the bread, yet it never grew smaller. I took a large drink from the wine, yet it was still full to the brim. The Lord looked at me and smiled. He spoke, and once again His lips never moved,
“Come, My child. The road has been hard on your feet. You will not last long here.”
He took my hand and we walked. As we took our first steps, I noticed a change in the landscape. There were rosebushes and flowers growing in the once-barren land. The rocky surface I had been walking on a moment ago turned to gold. I looked behind me and saw where the two paths met. I saw where I had first met the Lord. I cried once more. Then I looked ahead and saw the highest of all mountains. And the path I was on was leading right to the summit of that mountain. But before the mountain, right in front of me, I saw the lowest of valleys. My happiness turned to anger. How could the Lord do this to me?!? I began looking for an escape. There! I saw it. There was a break in the rosebush ahead. I dove through quickly. The Lord called out my name through His unmoving lips. The words spoke to my heart but I didn’t turn back to Him.
I was now crouching in the middle of the bush, scratched and bleeding from the thorns. I looked through to the other side. What I saw was beautiful! There was a green meadow with flowers and a brilliant sun. I climbed through the bush and lay on the grass. After a few minutes I got up and started running around. This was great! I soon found I was alone. It was then that I realized what I had done. My Lord had given His all to me and I had run away. I turned back and ran to the bush. But the meadow had mind of its own. The grass turned to quicksand. I was up to my ankles in it. I got on my knees and prayed. But I was sure the Lord couldn’t hear me. He had probably gone on His way. I was crying now, and sinking fast.
But a firm, nail-scarred hand reached out from the bushes and I grabbed hold and held on for dear life. With one strong pull I was out of the bushes and next to the Lord again. The Lord hadn’t left me at all! He waited there for me to cry out for help. I embraced Him and took His hand once more. We walked on our path to the valley. Only this time I wasn’t scared. I had my Lord next to me and nothing was going to pull me away from Him this time.
